Andrey Kovatchev
Andrey Kovatchev is Member of the European Parliament since 2009. He is a member of the Presidency of the European Parliament (Quaestor) as well as a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Delegation for Relations with the US.
He is also a substitute of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Delegation to the EU-Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee. Since 2011 he is the Vice-President of the Union of European Federalists and is also president of the Bulgarian section of the organization.
Prior to his election to the European Parliament, he was Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and European Affairs and Vice-International Secretary of political party GERB. He has also held various directorial and managerial positions with Elsevier BV, John Deere International GmbH and Tetra Laval Group. He earned a degree in Biology and a PhD in Natural Sciences from the University of Saarland in Germany.
